Human beings are inherently Homo Ludens (the playing human) and Homo Festivus (the celebrating human). Long before spoken language existed, people gathered to sing, drum, and play flutes. The daegeum, a quintessential Korean traditional wind instrument that has thrived on the Korean Peninsula for thousands of years, continues to breathe vibrant life into Korea’s enduring history.

Vagabond is a musical chronicle weaving together the artistic fragments gathered by daegeum master Aram Lee while performing and collaborating across the globe since 2008, all framed within the ethos of Korean traditional art. Through this production, Lee merges the myriad artists, audiences, and diverse musical idioms encountered across his journeys with the traditional foundation rooted within him, carving out a distinct artistic realm.
